"Grading System"
All courses with the exception of AP Literature are graded in the same manner:
TESTS & QUIZZES: - will count 50% of the term grade.
ORAL: - will count 25% of term grade and will include oral quizzes,
pronunciation, participation, attention in class and willingness to
speak the foreign language.
COMPOSITIONS: - will count 20% of the term grade. The grade will be based on the following criteria:
HOMEWORK: - will count 5% of term grade. All students start with 100% at the
beginning of each term; -10 points for each assignment not done -5 points for each incomplete assignment.Assignment sheets: These will be given out on a bi-weekly basis, detailing all daily homework and will include informational notes to student and parents. In case of absence, it is the student’s responsibility to get an assignment sheet - they are always available from me or from my personal web page. With the exception of absence due to illness, there is no acceptable excuse for homework not done. If you are absent I strongly recommend to check my web page to check if there has been change in the day's assignment. The homework page will be updated daily by 7:00 pm.
Makeup work: Students have 2 school days to make up a test, quiz or dictation missed due to absence. Any oral section of a test that is missed must likewise be made up within 2 school days. Again, it is the student’s responsibility to make up the work on time. Extra help can be arranged on an individual basis and/or on designated office hours which is posted in my office door (room 332). I do not give extra credit points for low test scores or quizzes.
